The climate on the coast of Croatia is typically Mediterranean with hot, dry and sunny summers, and relatively mild but sometimes wet winters.
In the interior part of the country Summers can be hot and dry but winters are generally quite cold and often snowy.
The eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, where Croatia is located, is among the world locations especially endangered by meteotsunamis. Meteorological tsunamis (meteotsunamis) are rare but hazardous long ocean waves. They are very difficult to predict, and can cause flooding and damage to vessels in port and at anchor.
Boat Cruising Seasons
The best sailing season is late spring (April through June) and early fall (September through October). The sea is calm, the weather mild and there are fewer crowds. July and August are ideal months for swimming plus the summer social season is in full swing.
