Ecuador lies on the equator, but still offers a wide variety of climate depending on the area you are in. There are four distinct areas: The Galápagos Islands, the La Costa (Pacific Coastal), the Oriente (eastern rainforests) and the Sierra (mountains).
Ecuador has two main seasons: the rainy season from December through to May and the dry season from June to November.
